To create multiple sheets in Revit at once, list them first as placeholder sheets, then turn the whole list into real sheets in one step. Below are the native method, the Dynamo approach, and what to do when every sheet also needs its own cropped plan.
The native way: placeholder sheets
- Create a sheet list with View › Schedules › Sheet List.
- In the schedule, use Insert Data Row for each sheet you need and fill in its number and name. Each row becomes a placeholder sheet.
- Start View › Sheet. In the New Sheet dialog, choose a titleblock and select all the placeholder sheets you want. Hold Ctrl or Shift to pick several.
- Click OK. Revit creates one sheet for each selected placeholder.
This creates the sheets but leaves them empty. Placing views, setting crops and filling in titleblock values is still done sheet by sheet.
How to create multiple sheets in Revit using Dynamo
The usual graph reads sheet numbers and names from Excel and creates the sheets with Sheet.ByNameNumberTitleBlockAndViews, placing a view on each one as it goes. It works well when the views already exist.
It gets harder when each sheet needs its own view, as in residential projects with one plan per apartment:
- Creating a plan for each apartment and cropping it to that apartment's walls, entrance and balcony usually needs Python or a package.
- Repeated layouts should share one sheet type, which means comparing apartment shapes.
- Titleblock values such as area and storage have to be mapped from the model.
- When the design changes, the graph has to update existing sheets instead of creating new ones.
